Norristown wildlife control tip of the month:
How to Get Rid of Flying Squirrels
Although they are cute and extraordinary Norristown animal control creatures, flying squirrels can be a problem if found
in your home. In the yard, they can do a significant damage, because they strip the bark of a tree,
they dig holes in the yard and they ruin your gardens and bird feeders. The thing is, it is quite
difficult to get rid of them. They mostly like to inhabit roofs and attics of a house and it is very
hard to prevent them from doing so, because they can crawl into a very tiny holes. Repairing them is
an option, but you have to be very thorough in doing so. Also, you have to seal the entries with steel;
otherwise they will chew through the obstacle. Once you sealed all entrances, it is advisable to thoroughly
clean the attic of their droppings, urine and smell. How can you know whether you have a flying squirrel in
the attic? You can find their tracks, scent and droppings there. There are lethal and nonlethal Norristown pest control ways to get
rid of them. Either way, it is strongly advised to use humane measures in dealing with them. Fences do not
work against them, some people use repellents like moth balls and spices, but it is costly and can be dangerous
for the environment.
One thing you can do when you find out you have a flying squirrel is to set a trap. Setting a trap anywhere will
rarely work, the best thing to do is to place a trap on their exit holes. Good thing about Norristown wildlife removal traps is that if you
catch one of them and remove it, their community falls apart and other squirrels in your attic will follow the one
gone. There can be up to 20 of them in one colony, so they can do a lot of damage. A wise thing to do would be to
place a trap with bait along the paths they usually go, but not to set the Norristown animal trapping trap immediately. Once they get used to
it, you can catch 6 or 7 of them at once.
What to do with them after catching they are caught? Well it is advisable to avoid killing them. There is no Norristown exterminator reason
to do that. What you can do is to release them at least 10 miles away from the place caught. There are even some
regulations in some places which say they have to be taken to state facilities.
